Tortu — sediment — is a layered accumulation of memory, experience, labour and stories deposited over time. Nourished by Datça's historical, cultural and natural fabric, this approach aims not merely to represent the local, but to make its knowledge, craft and memory visible on new surfaces.
Chapter One — Living Production
The first chapter focuses on Datça's living culture of production. Local craft knowledge, hand-woven textiles, natural materials and the region's characteristic landscape are reinterpreted in a contemporary design language — showing that cultural heritage can live on through transformation.
Chapter Two — From the Chests to the Runway
The second chapter is sediment at its most visible: handcrafted textiles and family heirlooms, kept for years in the chests of Datça's homes and passed down through generations, come back to life through contemporary design. Each look is presented with the name of the owner of the chest it came from — anonymous labour made visible again.
A two-chapter show of sixteen looks tells a story of cultural transmission carried from the local to the city. Because true sustainability sustains not only materials — but memory, craft, labour and stories.
